Well, I don’t want to pick favorites, but I have to admit this cocktail is right up there on my list of all time best libations. It is so crisp and clean.   And it always looks especially elegant when served.


There is such a variety of beautiful fresh pears available in our markets today. For an easy centerpiece when serving this delicious recipe, purchase a few especially perfect specimens and buy them when just a little under ripe.   Fill a pretty bowl or tray with them and light a candle.   Just don’t forget to keep your eye on those pears. You want to make sure you use them when they reach their peak of perfection.

Make the simple syrup by placing 1 cup water and 1 cup sugar in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil and stir until sugar dissolves.   Set aside and let cool. Cover and refrigerate. Keep this chilled in your refrigerator and you will always be ready to mix up any number of great drinks.

I like to serve these with a cheese and fruit tray. The combination of pear with a nice creamy Gorgonzola is especially wonderful. A few slices of salty prosciutto and an assortment of fresh fruit is a great addition to this flavor palette.



Autumn Pear Martini
  • 2 ounces Pear Vodka
  • 1 ounce Vanilla Vodka
  • 1 ounce Fresh Lemon Juice
  • ¾ ounce Simple Syrup
  • Fresh Pear Slice for Garnish
  1. Shake the pear vodka, vanilla vodka, lemon juice and simple syrup together in a cocktail shaker half filled with ice. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with a fresh pear slice.
