Cabin Fever

If you live in the Midwest you undoubtedly already are suffering from it, and there is a long winter ahead.   Cabin Fever is a condition that can bring on hysteria or depression from spending too much time indoors.  The bitter cold and blanket of snow is certainly pretty to gaze at out your window…well for the first few miserable days anyway.  But, now we are over it!  It is time to turn this situation around.

Let’s have a cocktail and a summer beach party.  Are you in?  First someone has to put on their coat, gloves, boots and hat and go out in the cold with a container and an ice-cream scoop.  Do we have any volunteers?   OK- I will take the first round!

Let’s scoop some of that fresh, clean snow into each glass (clean is the key word here).   Bring it in and pour a little tropical punch style beverage over the top.  Make sure you add a cocktail umbrella and a piece of fresh fruit.

Set out a plate with the ingredients for make your own s’more.  Lay out some good quality chocolate, graham crackers or cookies, marshmallows and skewers of course.   Now let them roast marshmallows in the fireplace, over a gas stove burner, or over a sterno burner.  I added some fresh pineapple that can be grilled.  Put that gooey creation together, sit back in your flip flops and shades and pretend you are on a sunny beach somewhere.

Now don’t you feel better?   You are welcome!
