It all started as a hobby

Before Milkhouse Candles was officially founded in 2002, Eric and Janet Sparrow’s deep-rooted ties to agricultural America inspired them. They were tired of candles filled with dangerous chemicals and artificial scents. So they played and experimented with natural fragrances and waxes, pouring their candles into old-fashioned canning jars they bought at auctions.

Their first customers were friends and family members, but as requests grew, they knew they could take their hobby to a new level – and Milkhouse Candle Company was born.

Sustainability and family

The same friends, family, and co-workers that encouraged the Sparrows on their candle-making journey now help produce these much-loved candles at the Milkhouse Creamery in their two facilities located in Osage and New Hampton, Iowa.

Sustainability is always at the forefront of everything we produce. Natural, renewable waxes contain none of the carcinogens of paraffin candles, and our 40% recycled glassware containers are 100% recyclable, so your candle jars will have a useful life in your home long after the wax is gone.

We go the extra mile for our customers

When you become a Milkhouse distributor, we go above and beyond to make sure our products add value to your store. We do our research and figure out how close you are to other retailers that sell Milkhouse products. Then we find out what the other stores are selling and suggest product lines to you that won’t compete with the other store.

This way, we make sure all our customers have unique offerings that they don’t have to discount to compete with their neighbors. It’s not just friendly, it’s good business for all of us.
