Our Story

Deep Roots

Our founders, Eric and Janet Sparrow, have deep-rooted ties to agricultural America. It is their Midwest upbringing that inspired the creation for a cleaner, healthier candle experience. From years of researching, experimenting, and just having fun creating, Milkhouse Candle Company was born.

Starting off as a Hobby for the couple in 2002. Their candle making began in standard canning jars bought at local auctions. They shared their creations with friends, family and co-workers and suddenly requests for more began to pour in. Years after the original candles were produced, Milkhouse is steadily gaining respect from consumers world-wide for producing the cleanest burning candle on the market. You won’t find artificial color in these candles, and you won’t find any lead in the wicks. The Milkhouse blend of waxes is simple: pure beeswax and natural soy wax from soybeans grown right here, in the America’s upper Midwest.

That same Midwest Ethic has stuck with the couple as their family and candle company has grown. Now the same friends, family, and co-workers that spurred on their candle making help to produce this much loved candle in Osage, Iowa. The good folks at Milkhouse have kept "sustainability" at the forefront of product development. Natural, renewable waxes contain none of the carcinogens of paraffin candles, and the 40% recycled glassware containers are 100% recyclable, so your candle jars will have a useful life in your home long after the wax is gone. Keeping your family healthy and happy!
