Sticky Buns

Is it a dessert drink or is it a brunch drink?  Well, you will have to decide about that.  But, I can tell you for sure it is delicious.

This is a great choice for a cocktail year round.  Who can resist a warm, sweet, and spicy cinnamon roll?

A cute garnish for this drink is to skewer a mini cinnamon roll and serve it on top of the glass.  I used refrigerated cinnamon rolls and cut each into quarters before baking.    I fit them into a small baking dish to hold their shape.   This just provides an extra treat with this already divine beverage.

Serve each one on a tray with an individual cocktail shaker for a special touch.  Let each guest shake their own just before pouring it in the chilled glass.

As a brunch beverage, I like to serve this with a small herbed tart that is made with a prepared puff pastry.   And on the side, a piece of thick cut maple glazed bacon.  The salty taste plays well with the sweet cinnamon drink.   Fresh fruit is always a welcome addition.

Sticky Buns Martini
  • Sticky Buns Martini
  • 2 ounces RumChata
  • 1 ounce Cinnamon Spice Kahlua
  • 1 ounce Caramel Vodka
  • 1 ounce half and half
  • Sugar and cinnamon for rimming
  1. Dip the rim of a cocktail glass in water and then in a sugar cinnamon mixture. Chill.
  2. Fill a cocktail shaker half full of ice. Add RumChata, Kahlua, Caramel Vodka, and half and half to shaker. Shake until very cold. Pour into chilled glass.

As a dessert, I think it can stand on its own.  But a dish of salty nuts and some fresh berries would certainly be great on the side.
