Recycle, Reuse, Re-love
Butter jar candle almost gone? Well, this is a sad state, but wait- don’t throw it out! The timing is perfect. Those last succulents will have to be moved in before the weather gets colder. Perfect for a terrarium.
Clean that butter jar and let’s get it repurposed. Here is what you will need. 1.) some clean rock or pebbles, 2.) charcoal, 3.) moss, 4.) cactus soil, 5.) small plants
First we will add a layer of rock for drainage. Top this with a layer of charcoal to keep the soil from becoming sour. Now some moss to aid in the drainage and a layer of the cactus soil. Now pick you plants. Choose them small so they will have room to grow and not be crowded. When you are finished planting, cover the soil with more moss or pebbles if you wish. Set your creation in a sunny window or use the handle to hang and catch the light. Your terrarium should only have to be watered about once a week.
This is a great project to do with kids. It makes a perfect gift and wouldn’t it be wonderful to send to the dorm room for that student that is away from home? Just think of the possibilities.
